Horizon Aircraft Ltd., also known as Horizon Aircraft, is making significant strides in the development of the first hybrid electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft capable of covering a range of 800 kilometers.

The company recently announced key business and technical updates, showcasing its progress in developing essential components for its innovative aircraft.

At the forefront of this development is the Cavorite X7, Horizon Aircraft’s flagship hybrid eVTOL. This aircraft distinguishes itself with patented HOVR wing technology, enabling it to fly 98% of its mission in a configuration akin to that of a conventional airplane.

With a hybrid power system, the Cavorite X7 promises superior range, speed, and payload capacity within its class, positioning it as a potential game changer in the regional air travel market.

The Cavorite X7 is designed to transport up to seven passengers at speeds reaching 250 knots (approximately 450 kilometers per hour), with a maximum range of around 500 miles (800 kilometers). This combination of speed and range could make it ideal for a variety of applications, including medical evacuation, critical supply delivery, disaster relief, and specialized military missions.

Horizon Aircraft anticipates that operating like a conventional aircraft most of the time will enhance safety and simplify the certification process compared to other radical eVTOL designs.

In addition to the aircraft’s innovative design, Horizon Aircraft is developing sophisticated hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) digital twin technology. This technology enables more efficient and accelerated testing of the large-scale prototype through thousands of digital flight tests, providing valuable insights into the aircraft’s anticipated real-world handling characteristics.

The Cavorite X7 will be equipped with a hybrid electric system that allows for in-flight and post-flight battery recharging, ensuring significant system redundancy. The company is actively testing its large-scale prototype and is in the design and manufacturing phases of a full-scale technical demonstrator aircraft.
