Alaska Airlines launches AI-based software that simplifies flight scheduling  

Alaska Airlines, in partnership with UP.Labs, has officially unveiled its inaugural startup, Odysee, at the UP.Summit.

This innovative platform aims to transform the airline’s operational logistics by leveraging powerful AI and advanced computing capabilities to streamline real-time decision-making in scheduling.

Key Highlights of Odysee:

• Funding and Launch: Odysee has kicked off with $5 million in seed funding, primarily led by UP.Partners.
• AI-Powered Solutions: The platform focuses on optimizing flight schedules to ensure the efficient use of each aircraft and their interconnections. This tool empowers teams to navigate one of the most complex aspects of airline management effectively.
• A Milestone Achievement: The launch of Odysee represents a significant step forward from the previous year’s UP.Summit, where Alaska Airlines and UP.Labs established their partnership to tackle strategic challenges in aviation through innovative solutions.
• Rapid Insights: Odysee employs an operations research-led approach to construct flight schedules, quickly assessing the impacts of any changes on revenue, profitability, and reliability.
• Enhanced Simulations: With the ability to run hundreds of simulations in mere seconds, Odysee delivers precise flight-level insights, enabling teams to stress-test potential schedules.
• Beyond Human Limits: The platform can evaluate more variables and options than a human can manage, providing teams with the tools to make informed decisions and optimize operations more effectively.

This partnership is a part of Alaska Star Ventures, Alaska Airlines’ investment arm, and underscores the airline’s dedication to innovation and sustainability. Over the next three years, Alaska Airlines and UP.Labs plan to launch additional startups aimed at addressing critical challenges in aviation and mobility.
