Adani Defence Buys 85.8% of Air Works to Boost MRO Capabilities

Adani Group takes flight in India’s booming aviation sector! In a landmark move to bolster its position in aviation services, Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Ltd. has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire an 85.8% stake in Air Works, India’s largest private sector maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company.

The acquisition, valued at Rs 400 crore, is set to significantly enhance Adani Defence’s capabilities in both civil and defence aviation.

Air Works, a renowned name in the MRO industry, operates across 35 cities with a workforce of over 1,300 skilled professionals. The company offers comprehensive services for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, boasting expertise in base maintenance for narrow-body, turboprop, and rotary aircraft.

With key facilities in Hosur, Mumbai, and Kochi, Air Works holds regulatory approvals from over 20 countries, enabling it to cater to global aviation standards.

Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the Adani Group, stated that this acquisition aligns with their strategic vision of creating a robust aviation ecosystem in India.

Air Works has also established a strong presence in defence MRO, successfully executing projects for critical platforms of the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.

“The Indian aviation industry stands at a transformative juncture, now the third largest globally and on track to induct over 1,500 aircraft in the coming years,” said Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airports.

He emphasized the significance of this acquisition as more than a business expansion, calling it “a commitment to building an integrated aviation services ecosystem that strengthens the backbone of India’s aviation infrastructure.”
