Air Haifa: Israel's New Airline Prepares for Upcoming Launch

Air Haifa, Israel’s eagerly anticipated new airline, is on the verge of its inaugural flight, marking a significant milestone in the country’s aviation landscape.

The airline is set to receive its first aircraft, an ATR-72-600 turboprop, at Haifa International Airport by the end of July 2024. This arrival signals the final stages of Air Haifa’s operational licensing process with the Civil Aviation Authority, expected to be completed by September.

Based in the city from which it takes its name, Air Haifa is currently navigating the process of obtaining its Air Operator Certificate (AOC). The airline recently unveiled its branding and announced that its initial aircraft, a state-of-the-art ATR 72-600 with 72 seats, will arrive from Blagnac Airport in Toulouse, France.

Manufactured by ATR, a joint venture of Airbus and Leonardo, this aircraft represents the first of several planned additions to Air Haifa’s fleet, with two more ATR 72-600s scheduled for acquisition in the near future.

The launch of Air Haifa comes at a pivotal time, providing a boost to northern Israel’s economy amid challenging regional circumstances. The ATR 72-600, renowned for its safety, reliability, and passenger comfort, features a quiet cabin with a spacious two-by-two seating layout that excludes middle seats—a welcome feature for travelers.

With over 1,300 of these aircraft operating globally, the ATR 72-600 is set to serve as the backbone of Air Haifa’s fleet. Once the certification process concludes and ticket sales commence, Air Haifa plans to announce its destinations and flight schedules, ushering in a new era for Israeli air travel.
