Air India & Lufthansa Group Unveil 60 New Codeshare Routes

Air India is enhancing travel convenience by expanding its codeshare partnership with Lufthansa Group, now including Austrian Airlines alongside existing partners Lufthansa and SWISS. This expansion improves connectivity, offering smoother transfers and more flight options across Europe and beyond.
Enhanced Connectivity: Nearly 100 Codeshare Routes
The partnership adds nearly 60 new routes, linking 12 Indian and 26 European cities. The total number of codeshare routes with Lufthansa and SWISS rises from 55 to nearly 100, while Austrian Airlines brings 26 additional routes into the network.

Lufthansa (Frankfurt to):
Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Geneva, Hamburg, Lyon, Manchester, Munich, Oslo, Prague, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Washington D.C., and more.
SWISS (Zurich to):
Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Geneva, Hamburg, Manchester, Munich, Oslo, Prague, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Valencia, and more.
Austrian Airlines (Vienna to):
Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Düsseldorf, Geneva, Hamburg, Lyon, Manchester, Munich, Nice, Prague, Stockholm, Stuttgart, and more.
Lufthansa Group passengers also gain access to 15 domestic Indian destinations via Air India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Additionally, Lufthansa Group carriers will codeshare on Air India’s international flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Kathmandu, Melbourne, and Sydney.

Passengers flying between India, Germany, and Switzerland will enjoy more flexibility, including three daily Delhi-Frankfurt flights under Lufthansa’s ‘LH’ flight numbers—two operated by Air India and one by Lufthansa.
As Star Alliance members, Air India, Lufthansa, SWISS, and Austrian Airlines offer seamless loyalty benefits. Frequent flyers can earn and redeem miles across all carriers, while Star Alliance Gold members enjoy priority services, extra baggage, and lounge access worldwide.
Air India Delays Further Boeing Orders
Amid global network expansion, Air India has postponed additional Boeing aircraft orders due to ongoing delivery delays from the U.S. manufacturer. The airline remains focused on fleet reliability while awaiting Boeing’s resolution of production challenges.
