Breeze Airways Alters Route Following In-Flight Dispute and Mention of ‘Bomb’

On Tuesday night, a flight from Orlando, Florida to Providence, Rhode Island was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger mentioned hearing the word “bomb.”
On December 5, flight 717, which was headed from Orlando, Florida to Providence, Rhode Island, was diverted 45 minutes after takeoff. Authorities provided an explanation in an affidavit submitted by FBI investigators that indicated Evan Sims, 41, started acting strangely after his girlfriend ended their relationship and he threatened to “fire up a vape” while boarding.
Pilots can determine what “necessary emergency action” to take in the event of a bomb threat on a flight, including diverting, according to the Code of Federal Regulations.
Tanya Mcginn, a fellow traveller, reported overhearing a father and his daughter inquire with the cabin staff about a possible relocation because they believed one of the passengers may be carrying a bomb.
Men wearing dark-colored police uniforms were seen escorting two individuals in a video that had posted. The image showed the two individuals—a woman and a man with a dark hat—being removed from the aircraft as detained.
Watching the video, the man was heard saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, I apologise for messing up your travel plans.”
People reported, citing an email from Breeze Airways, that passengers received $150 to cover food, lodging, transportation, and other inconveniences.
