Spirit Airlines Raises Checked Bag Weight Limit and Extends Future Travel Voucher Validity

Spirit Airlines Upgrades Its Model with Premium Seating and Priority Perks

Spirit Airlines has implemented significant updates to its policies, aiming to enhance the travel experience for its passengers. Among these changes, the airline has extended the validity period for future travel vouchers and increased the maximum weight limit for checked bags.

Previously, Spirit Airlines had a 40-pound limit for checked bags, but this has now been raised to 50 pounds, aligning with industry standards set by airlines like Delta, United, and American. This adjustment provides passengers with more flexibility and convenience when packing for their flights.

Additionally, the expiration dates for future travel vouchers have been extended to 12 months. Starting from June 3, vouchers issued on or after this date will be valid for a full year, compared to the previous 90-day validity period. This extension offers passengers more time to plan and book their future travels, reflecting Spirit Airlines‘ commitment to customer satisfaction.

Matt Klein, a Spirit executive, expressed that these changes mark just the beginning of the airline’s efforts to make affordable travel easier and more seamless for its customers. Moreover, the airline has introduced a new policy effective May 17, 2024, eliminating change and cancellation fees for all Spirit flights.
