Turkey Collaborates with Pakistan to Build Combat Helicopters
In an exciting development, Pakistan and Türkiye are exploring the possibility of working together to design and produce a new attack helicopter. This partnership, discussed during the 8th Pak-Turk Industrial Fair Joint Working Group (JWG) Meeting, could strengthen the defense capabilities of both nations.
The talks also touched on the potential sale of Türkiye’s next-generation fighter aircraft, the KAAN, to Pakistan. This collaboration highlights the growing ties between the two countries, who share common interests and face similar security challenges.
The meeting took place at Pakistan’s National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP), where key defense officials from both nations gathered to discuss the joint venture. If successful, this project could significantly improve the military capabilities of both countries and support their growing defense industries.
As of now, Turkey is building a combat helicopter under the license of the Turkish AgustaWestland T129 ATAK and has also developed its own medium-range combat helicopter, the T929.
Both helicopter technologies are promising for Turkey and have the potential for export. Now, in collaboration with Pakistan, it may be possible to develop another combat helicopter similar to the T129, which would also feature a variety of avionics and weapons systems for operations.
