Wildfire Threat: Placerville Airport Hangars Burn, Forward Progress Halted

El Dorado County, California, faced a harrowing threat as the Pay Fire ignited on Saturday afternoon, dangerously approaching residential neighborhoods. Quick action by firefighters prevented any homes from being destroyed, though not without leaving its mark.

By Sunday morning, the blaze had consumed 77 acres of land, with containment efforts reaching 25%. The fire’s impact on local communities was evident, with reports of a hole in a home’s side wall and a scorched backyard. Nearby, smoldering hot spots continued to pose challenges for fire crews, exacerbated by the rugged terrain and heavy vegetation.
