24-Year-Old Intercepted Trying to Fly to Canada as Senior Citizen

A 24-year-old man’s audacious attempt to board a flight to Canada disguised as a senior citizen was thwarted by vigilant security personnel at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The man, identified as Guru Sewak Singh, was apprehended by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Terminal-3 on Tuesday evening.

Singh had gone to great lengths to alter his appearance, dyeing his hair and beard white and wearing spectacles in an effort to appear much older than his actual age. He presented a passport under the name Rashvindar Singh Sahota, claiming to be 67 years old.

However, CISF officers grew suspicious as Singh’s appearance, voice, and skin texture did not align with the age stated on his passport.

“The man’s appearance, voice, and skin texture seemed significantly younger than the details provided in the passport. Closer observation revealed that he had dyed his hair and beard white and was wearing glasses to appear older,” explained a senior CISF officer.

The suspicion escalated when officers discovered a photo of a passport bearing Singh’s real name on his mobile phone. Following the discovery, Singh was promptly handed over to the Delhi Police for further interrogation, where he admitted to his deception.

The Delhi Police have since taken custody of Singh and his belongings to investigate the motives behind his attempted impersonation and the origins of the forged passport. There was a similar attempt at Ahmedabad airport previously.
