French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou made this announcement during a conference organized by the French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS) in New Delhi on October 7.

He emphasized the importance of the strategic relationship between France and India, noting that 55% of French exports to India are in the aeronautical sector, totaling approximately €2.7 billion in the first half of 2024.

Mathou described the partnership as “not just strategic, but universal,” reflecting the extensive collaboration that spans various domains, from the seabed to outer space. He revealed that discussions are underway with the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation to establish an aeronautics cluster, which aims to enhance the aerospace capabilities of both countries.

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu echoed this sentiment, suggesting that India and France could work together to create a robust sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply chain.

This collaboration is expected to significantly benefit the civil aviation sector as Indian carriers, including IndiGo and Air India, continue to expand their fleets with Airbus aircraft to meet the increasing demand for air travel.
