Air India to launch direct flight service from Mumbai to Melbourne

Air India has confirmed that it will begin operating the new route in December, and Melbourne Airport will see its first nonstop flights from Mumbai.
With the possibility to expand if demand increases, the airline revealed today that it will begin operating three trips each week on December 15.
The new Mumbai service will be operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft and will supplement Air India’s existing daily flights between Melbourne and Delhi. On the Air India website and mobile app, there are flights available for purchase with special all-inclusive round-trip pricing beginning at Rs 48,999 in Economy.
The Australian state of Victoria, where there is an estimated 200,000 Indians, or around 40% of the country’s total Indian diaspora, will gain approximately 40,000 seats annually with the launch of the new Mumbai-Melbourne route.
In recent months Melbourne Airport has seen record numbers of Indian visitors travelling through the terminals, and this new service will make it even easier for families to reconnect or for tourists and students to explore great state.
