Bengaluru Airport Achieves Record-Breaking Passenger Traffic in 2023-24

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) has marked a significant milestone in its history, achieving record-breaking numbers in both passenger traffic and cargo during the financial year 2023-24.
With 439,524 metric tonnes of cargo and an astounding total of 37.53 million passengers going through its terminals, the airport has solidly established itself as a major hub for travel and trade in South India. A crucial connection for both domestic and international travel needs, BLR Airport handled 32.86 million domestic passengers out of a total of 4.67 million passengers.
Bangalore International Airport Limited’s Chief Operating Officer, Satyaki Raghunath, expressed delight in the airport’s accomplishments as he thought back on this outstanding feat. He underlined the milestone’s importance and the airport’s dedication to improving connectivity and developing cargo facilities.
The effective opening of Terminal 2 (T2) and strategic alliances with top cargo and airline companies, according to Raghunath, have been instrumental in enhancing the airport’s capabilities. These advancements have cemented BLR Airport’s position as a regional aviation powerhouse by positioning it as the primary gateway to both Central and South India.
Moreover, BLR Airport has expanded its network connectivity, offering flights to 108 cities, including 80 destinations within India and 28 international routes. This expansion has provided travelers with a wider array of choices, further cementing the airport’s status as a preferred travel hub in the region.
The surge in travel demand witnessed during FY 2023-24 has propelled BLR Airport to the forefront of aviation excellence in South India. The notable 7.1% increase in cargo throughput compared to the previous financial year underscores the airport’s pivotal role in facilitating trade and commerce.
