China has initiated batch production of the AG600, the world’s largest amphibious aircraft, marking a significant milestone in its aviation and maritime capabilities.

On June 30, the nose section of the first batch-produced AG600 aircraft was delivered, as announced by AVIC, the country’s leading aircraft manufacturer. This development signifies a transition from the aircraft’s lengthy development phase to batch production, a critical step in China’s ambitious aviation strategy.

The AG600, which has been in development for a decade, represents a significant advancement in China’s domestically produced aviation capabilities.

The production of the aircraft’s nose section took approximately three months, and it underwent an airworthiness compliance inspection by the Central and Southern Regional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This inspection ensures the manufacturing processes meet stringent safety and performance standards.

According to AVIC, the AG600 will be shipped to customers once it has received its type certificate before the end of the year. According to reports, four AG600 test aircraft are presently undertaking nationwide airworthiness testing to confirm compliance and performance.

The design of the AG600 is a component of China’s effort to increase its aviation capabilities through the use of locally produced aircraft, such as the C919 passenger jet and the Y-20 cargo plane.
