A passenger on a United Airlines flight from Chicago to Los Angeles was detained on Friday after attempting to enter the cockpit and open the evacuation doors.

On September 8, at around 9 a.m. CT, United Airlines flight 1641 was getting ready to take off for Los Angeles International Airport from Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

The flight deck and escape doors could not be opened by the passenger, according to a statement from the FAA. Law enforcement officers were waiting for the “unruly passenger” at the gate when the Boeing 737 was forced to return to the Chicago O’Hare gate, according to the FAA.
