PIA malfunctions during takeoff; all tires burst on the runway
A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight experienced a serious technical issue during its takeoff from Dubai to Multan when all the aircraft’s tyres burst. The Airbus A320 was carrying 172 passengers when the crew had to abort the departure due to this unexpected malfunction.
As the plane accelerated down the runway, a warning alerting the pilots of an engine malfunction was triggered. The PIA spokesperson reported that the captain reacted quickly by deploying the emergency brake system, which successfully halted the aircraft safely. Unfortunately, this abrupt action resulted in the bursting of all the tyres.
In the interest of passenger safety, the crew promptly transferred all passengers to the airport lounge. Fortunately, thanks to the captain and crew’s swift and expert actions, no injuries were reported among the 172 individuals on board.
After the incident, PIA arranged for the comfort of the affected passengers in the lounge, and the airline’s engineering staff from Karachi will fly to Dubai on a night flight to address the technical issue.
To minimize disruption, PIA has organized alternative travel options for the affected passengers. Some will be rerouted from Dubai to Lahore via flight PK-204 tonight, while others will be accommodated on a PIA flight from Sharjah to Multan. The airline has assured that passenger safety remains its utmost priority and is working diligently to manage the situation efficiently.
