Passengers claim IndiGo Airline ‘tricked’ them into getting off plane

IndiGo to Introduce Another European Route, Challenging Top Airlines

Eight passengers on an IndiGo flight headed for Chennai were reportedly convinced to get off the plane on Sunday night by the ground crew at Bengaluru airport by offering to transfer them to a different flight.

But after stepping off, the passengers realized they had been tricked because, according to reports, IndiGo would not allow the flight to take off with just eight passengers.

According to reports, the incident happened at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) at approximately 9:30 p.m. Along with other passengers, the eight passengers included elderly people who were travelling on IndiGo flight 6E478 from Amritsar to Chennai via Bengaluru. The remaining passengers disembarked in Bengaluru, excluding them.

According to these flyers, they were forced to spend the night in Bengaluru due to the chaos and depart on Monday. They added that despite creating the obstacle in their otherwise scheduled trip, the airline did not even make arrangements for their stay.

In the meantime, the airline defended its position and issued an apology in a statement for the inconvenience.

“On November 19, 2023, flight 6E 478 carried eight transit passengers as it flew from Amritsar to Chennai via Bengaluru. “These passengers were unable to board the onward flight to Chennai at the Bengaluru Airport due to the delay of the incoming aircraft from Amritsar,” an IndiGo statement read.

“While IndiGo ground staff did everything in their power to assist passengers in making the connection, they were unable to board the aircraft because of time constraints. While some passengers opted to stay at the airport lounge, IndiGo staff offered the passengers overnight accommodations and a reservation on the next available flight. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this has caused the passengers.
