American Airlines to Create 500 U.S. Jobs for Aircraft Maintenance

American Airlines has announced a significant expansion in its aviation maintenance operations, adding nearly 500 new jobs and increasing heavy maintenance work at its bases in Charlotte, North Carolina; Pittsburgh; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

This move aims to boost the airline’s capacity to perform additional heavy maintenance checks at these locations.

This latest hiring initiative follows the addition of over 300 jobs at American’s Tech Ops — Tulsa maintenance base, which was supported by a $22 million grant from the State of Oklahoma’s Business Expansion Incentive Program in 2023.

The grant is facilitating growth and enhancements at the world’s largest commercial aircraft maintenance base, including American’s engine repair and overhaul facility.
