IndiGo to Introduce Another European Route, Challenging Top Airlines

IndiGo Airlines is rapidly expanding its international network, having recently announced new flights to major European destinations.

Now, according to reports, the airline is setting its sights on another exciting route in Europe—direct flights between Delhi and Copenhagen, Denmark. This move positions IndiGo to compete directly with established carriers like Lufthansa, British Airways, and Air France in the India-Europe travel market.

IndiGo’s Entry into ScandinaviaIndia’s largest low-cost carrier, IndiGo Airlines (6E), has reportedly applied for slots at Copenhagen Airport (CPH), indicating its intention to launch non-stop flights from Delhi to Denmark’s capital.

This development, first shared by Twitter user ‘The Indian Aviation Guy,’ based on official slot filing data from Copenhagen Airport’s website, marks IndiGo’s first direct service to the Nordic region—a historically underserved market for Indian travelers.

Proposed Flight Schedule and Strategy

According to slot filings, IndiGo plans to operate flights arriving in Copenhagen at 08:00 hours local time and departing at 10:00 hours. While details about the aircraft type and flight frequency are yet to be revealed, the schedule reflects IndiGo’s signature quick turnaround strategy, maximizing aircraft utilization and operational efficiency.

Strengthening Economic and Travel Connections

IndiGo’s Long-Haul Expansion with Boeing 787-9 DreamlinerIndiGo’s ambition to expand into the long-haul international market is further underscored by the arrival of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner through a wet lease agreement.

This strategic addition enables IndiGo to offer direct flights to key European hubs like London, Paris, and Amsterdam by late 2025, catering to the growing demand for travel between India and Europe.
