EasyJet Empowers Aspiring Pilots: Launching Innovative Recruitment Campaign
Easyjet

EasyJet has launched a new nationwide pilot aptitude test today to encourage British citizens to see if they have what it takes to become pilots.

This comes after recent research revealed that 50% of British citizens are unaware of the requirements to become an airline pilot and learn to fly a commercial jet. The online test was created to encourage more people to think about a career in aviation by evaluating some of the essential skills needed to become an airline pilot.

EasyJet is offering people the chance to test their aptitude for some of the essential qualities needed to be an airline pilot, such as sense of direction and response speed, without requiring any prior aviation knowledge or flying experience.

EasyJet is also “piloting” a talking billboard to kick off the campaign, with a genuine easyJet pilot strapped to a billboard in Central London right now. The test and advertisement are a part of the airline’s brand-new, unprecedented pilot recruitment effort, which is being launched in conjunction with the upcoming launch of its 2024 Pilot Training Programme.

With its rigorous, industry-leading training programme, the airline’s pilot training programmes can prepare aspiring pilots with little to no flying experience to operate a commercial passenger jet in around two years. EasyJet’s research indicates that 57% of respondents think a college degree is necessary to become a pilot, and 80% believe having 20/20 vision is a must, despite the fact that neither of these requirements is true for applying. The interactive campaign seeks to clarify common myths and misconceptions about the job.

In an attempt to encourage more women to take the test and think about the profession, the new exam is being made available online to audiences that identify as female. The aforementioned campaign is a component of easyJet’s continuous endeavour to inspire greater numbers of women to pursue careers in aviation, given that over half (59%) of British citizens polled still hold the view that aviation is solely a male-dominated occupation. Additionally, according to recent airline data, twice as many men (32%) as women (15%) thought about becoming pilots.
